The vision of 1 Young America is that all our nation's youth have access to experience our beautiful national parks.
1 Young America is an educational, recreational, historical, and life changing summer camp program for youth from low income families. 1YA focuses primarily on introducing these kids to the great outdoors, inspiring them to broaden their horizons, and guiding them towards making choices that lead to success in life.
We will be touring America's National Parks like Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain National Park, The Great Lakes Region, and The Grand Canyon to name a few. Our camp counselors and instructors will constantly be re-enforcing the concept that there is a real world and a bright future out there for our students.
We will be teaching our students that this is their country and they are welcome to it.
1 Young America summer camp program provides our kids with a sense of self confidence that they can conquer any challenge that life presents.
Many of our nation's children do not have the opportunity to see the America they are part of. For youth from low income families who live in the inner cities, when school lets out for the summer, their vacation time is often spent on the streets without the opportunity for family vacations or summer camps.

Our program takes these kids on a retreat to our nation's national parks where they learn about the environment and geology of the parks. We teach them about the importance of the wildlife that lives there and the need to keep these preserves as free and open spaces.

At the end of their journey they feel they are a part of an America they never knew before and that our national parks belong to them too. And they gain insights to the limitless possibilities life has to offer.
Our program follows up with these kids to make sure they enroll in summer youth programs going forward. We monitor their progress at school and offer resources to make sure they graduate high school and are on a path to college.
